General

It is a plugin that lives inside Adobe After Effects. It holds a preset library, one-click transition bundles, keyframe and layer tools, and a set of AI tools (Auto Captions, Auto Tracker, Dialogue Isolation, Sound Effects). Everything runs from that one plugin, so there is nothing to import and nothing to keep organised on disk.

After Effects 2022 or newer, on macOS or Windows. That is everything the core toolkit needs: ffmpeg is used by a few tools and ships inside Alvar Suite, so there is nothing extra to install. A handful of premium presets and transition bundles build on third-party plugins (Sapphire, Continuum, Deep Glow) to reach effects those plugins do uniquely well, and Alvar Suite tells you when one is involved. Everything else works without them.

Yes. The free plan gives you the full plugin with 32 starter presets, 22 sound effects and 200 AI credits to try the AI tools. No card, and nothing to cancel. You can upgrade whenever you want the rest of the library.

Installation

Download AlvarSuite.zxp from the download page, then drag it onto the free aescripts ZXP Installer. Quit After Effects completely, reopen it, and open the plugin from Window > Extensions > Alvar Suite. The download page walks through it step by step.

Two things catch almost everyone, and both take a moment to put right. First, After Effects picks up extensions only at launch, so it needs to be fully quit and reopened after installing. Second, After Effects keeps scripting access switched off until you allow it, and the plugin needs it to apply presets and run its tools. Open After Effects > Settings > Scripting & Expressions on a Mac, or Edit > Preferences > Scripting & Expressions on Windows, tick Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network, and click OK. You only do this once. If it still has not appeared, get in touch with your After Effects version and we will sort it.

Purchase

There is nothing to download, unzip or copy into a folder. Sign in to the plugin with your email and everything your plan includes appears inside it, already organised and searchable. Buying more later unlocks it in the same place, with no reinstall.

They are two ways to own the same library, and you can pick whichever suits how you work. Complete is a single payment for the full preset library, the transition bundles and the editing tools. All Access is a subscription that includes all of that and adds the AI tools with a fresh allowance of AI credits every month. The pricing page puts the two side by side.

Credits are what the AI tools spend, priced by how much work you ask for (seconds of audio transcribed, footage tracked, and so on). Credits you buy are yours to keep and never expire. Credits included with a subscription refresh at the start of each billing period, so there is a full allowance waiting for you every month. The pricing page shows roughly what a given number of credits buys.

License

Yes. You can use it in client work, monetised videos, social content and any other commercial project, with no attribution and no royalties. The full terms are in the License Terms.

Yes, on two at a time. You sign in with a six-digit code the first time on each machine. To move to a different computer, open the account menu on one you are no longer using and choose Log out, which frees the seat straight away.

Your licence covers using the content in your own work, which includes work you deliver to clients. Passing the raw preset, sound or project files on to someone else is what it does not cover, since that is the library itself rather than the work made with it. For teams, get in touch about multi-seat licensing. The full terms are in the License Terms.
